Vaccines for Gonorrhoea in the news

Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted infection. Research shows that the Meningitis B vaccine can reduce your risk of getting gonorrhoea by up to 40%. NHS England announced in May 2025 that it will roll out a programme of gonorrhoea vaccination in England, starting in August 2025. The full details of the programme are still being finalised. The vaccine will mainly be offered to gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM) who are at the highest risk of gonorrhoea. People of other genders and sexualities may be eligible if they are considered at high risk. We are waiting for detailed guidance about who will qualify.

We will share further updates as soon as more information becomes available.

The vaccine will not be available through the NHS before 1st August. We kindly ask that you wait for further updates before contacting clinics.
